CBD is an abbreviation for cannabidiol which is a compound found in the cannabis (hemp) plant. Unlike THC, CBD is not psychoactive but is known for several benefits, including reduction of anxiety, stress management, skin hydration, and anti-inflammatory properties.

There are different ways of adding CBD into cosmetics: through isolates that have CBD only and through extracts that contain other compounds of the cannabis plant, such as terpenes and other cannabinoids. Combination of other compounds with CBD was found to enhance the benefits of the CBD extract, which is called an entourage effect in the research studies.
